MAKE YOUR PASSION
Going to the gym is all about improving your health, fitness as well as the way you look. The explosion of the practice of “selfie-taking” rests on people wanting to show their friends on social media where they’ve been. Taking selfies at the gym can help you make headway in your workout routine. Don’t believe us? Read on to find out why we’re saying this.
You’re kept accountable
One of the best ways for you to get yourself to the gym is knowing that your training buddy is waiting patiently for you there. If you don’t pitch up, she’ll be ragging you about it for days on end. “No one wants to be Debbie Downer by bailing and letting down your friend,” says Steve Stonehouse, personal training manager.
Taking selfies at the gym has pretty much the same effect.
If you regularly post selfies at the gym – say three times a week onto social media – you’ll gain a reputation as someone who works out and takes care of their body. However, if you go a couple of weeks without posting any selfies whatsoever, your friends and contacts on these platforms will start to comment on why you haven’t been positing any gym selfies lately so making you embarrassed and make you head back to gym!
You’re kept motivated
Selfies provide you with a log of how you’re progressing in your workout routine because your older pictures will help remind yourself of where you started and your latest selfies will show you what impact your workout routine has had on your body.
How can I make sure that I look my best in my selfies?
Well, the answer to this depends on what you want to achieve with your fitness routine. For example, if you want to build muscle you need to lift heavier weights at lower reps. (As an aside, some of the best foods to eat – if you want to build muscle – include mackerel, grass-fed organic beef and ricotta cheese.)
If you want to tone, lift lighter weights but perform more reps.
If you want to become more flexible, and take selfies with your body in weird and wonderful positions, Yoga is the exercise for you. But if you want to post selfies of your rock-hard six pack, you’ll need to join the Pilates class.
