Being a personal trainer is not like any other job. It’s a calling as opposed to just a regular nine-to-five job. The hours are long. You’ll need to get up at insanely early hours of the morning to be able to help a client who wants to train at 5.30am before they go to work. You’ll need to make yourself available at 7pm if someone wants to train with you at that stage after they’ve gotten back from the office.
However, there are so many perks that come with being a personal trainer. For example:
You earn as much as you want to
Being a personal trainer means that you own your own business. The more that you work and train other people directly translates into more money in your pocket. This is unlike when you work for someone else when you get a fixed salary at the end of any month and any additional income that you may earn is dependent on them.
Your hours are flexible
As a personal trainer, you work when your clients want to be trained. Most clients will want to train either early in the morning or in the afternoon/evening. This means that, for the middle portion of the day, you’ll be free to do what you want. So if you want to go and watch your kid play soccer, go our to grab a few groceries or simply nap before your evening session, you can do this! There is no need to ask a boss for permission. You’re your own boss.
Travel the world
Because a personal training qualification can be translated to many different countries (depending on whether or not it’s internationally recognised) this means that if you do decide to become a personal trainer you can see the seven wonders of the world while still earning a decent salary. Always wanted to travel the seven seas on a cruise ship? Fancy seeing New York? Never been to Asia? You can do this and still earn well thanks to your personal training qualification.
Do you have the necessary attributes to be successful Profession
So, now that you’ve seen the benefits of being a personal trainer, do you know if you have the necessary attributes to be super successful it in the profession?
Well, for starters, you need to have a love for fitness. You need to be uber excited about getting up in the morning and getting to the gym. You must love devising workout plans, both for yourself and clients, and seeing how these work. You must adore seeing how little tweaks in a workout routine can have massive effects on a person’s body.
In addition to this, you must be disciplined. Results from a fitness plan can only be see if you’re incredibly motivated to achieve these. This requires heaps of dedication. You must also be a superb motivator. When clients lose the motivation to be dedicated to their exercise and fitness routine, you need to spur them on with a specific type of motivation that will respond to them and keep going on.
