The Right Way to do Crossfit Training

Personal/Fitness Training Blog

Crossfit is one of the most popular sports and fitness activities. It is also one of the toughest workout sessions you will ever do in your life! Crossfit has boomed over the last few years, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after ways to stay fit, active and strong.

Talk to a few crossfit athletes and you will quickly notice just how difficult this sport truly is. It requires a lot of strength, endurance, consistency, determination, and proper guidance in terms of form. If you are considering getting into crossfit, there are a few things you should do before you join a crossfit box:

Do Your Crossfit Research

Look up on reputable crossfit boxes and coaches in your area. Find people who are properly qualified to teach you about this sport and activity. Crossfit can be dangerous and can lead to serious injury if you do not practide it with the right form. This means doing your research is vital.

Do a Crossfit Trial Session

Just because it looks like fun doesn’t mean that you will enjoy it. Crossfit is tough, so sign up for a tryout session and make a decision based on your experience. You also might want to consider doing your tryout session at the box you plan on joining so that you get a feel for the box culture and the coach’s attitude,  energy and style.

Ask For Crossfit Recommendations

If you are still unsure, chat to friends or family who have been doing crossfit for a while and get their opinion on it to help you make a decision.

Once you have decided to join and start crossfit, you should keep in mind that form and technique are extremely important. If you are considering competing in a crossfit event, you should know you will be judged on your form and technique. But, more importantly, proper form and technique is important as it can be the difference between completing a lift safely or injuring yourself.

Crossfit is Essentially the Sport of Fitness

It challenges your strength and fitness abilities through constant, varied high-intensity functional movements. Every day and workout is different but it is a great way to increase your strength, conditioning, fitness and overall health. However, it is recommended that you always train under the watchful eye of your coach or trainer, or a training partner or friend who at least knows the principles of crossfit, the do’s and dont’s of certain lifts, and is someone who can assist you should you fail in a lift. Safety always comes first and should be your number one priority.
