A fitness role model: Christeline Caldeira

Personal/Fitness Training Blog

When you speak to Christeline Caldeira, you don’t want to stop. She is an engaging, likeable and truly special person. The great thing is that she doesn’t come across as an individual who’s achieved what she has, in the fitness industry, merely because of self-discipline and never eating what she shouldn’t. Christeline feels confident to let her hair down a little – once in a while – and enjoy herself while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is the attitude that won her a second place in the recent Boksburg Classic over-35 category. Riding on the crest of the wave of her recent win, we caught up with her on her fitness fundamentals.

Someone who is passionate about fitness

Christeline Caldeira’s fitness inspiration is very simple. She is so passionate about fitness that she wants to be able to help others achieve everything she has in her fitness journey. This doesn’t mean that she’s content to sit on her laurels, content with what she’s achieved thus far. Christeline is constantly pushing herself, striving to achieve the next thing that she has set her sights on. “I challenge myself daily to be a better person than I was yesterday, physically and spiritually,” she says.

A very intricate fitness and nutrition regime

Christeline follows a very regimented fitness and nutrition regime. However, although it’s quite well-put-together, there’s still a little room for give.

Christeline’s fitness routine

  • Monday – back and HITT
  • Tuesday – biceps and triceps
  • Wednesday – legs and cardio
  • Thursday – shoulders
  • Friday – legs and cardio
  • Saturday – rest
  • Sunday, twice a month – legs

Christeline’s nutrition regime

  • Half a grapefruit when waking up
  • Pre-workout shake with 1000mg Vitamin C as well as a vitamin and mineral supplement
  • BCAAs during training
  • Meal 1: Egg whites with peppadews and feta
  • Meal 2: Vegetables and protein, CLA
  • Meal 3: Tuna, pineapple and cucumber
  • Meal 4: Protein and vegetables, CLA, calcium and magnesium
  • Meal 5: Whey protein
  • 2 cappuccinos and 1 ½ litres of water daily.

Why having a fitness qualification is important

Keeping with her goal of assisting people along their journey to fitness, having a fitness qualification is important to Christeline Caldeira as it assists her to instruct others in the right way to do things both fitness and nutrition wise. A full-spectrum fitness qualification, she says, has made her more aware of what impact exercise and nutrition have on the body.
